Industrial Palisade Fencing in the UK: Security Benefits, Specification, and Applications

Perimeter security for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sites is no longer just about defining boundaries. Increasing risks of theft, vandalism, unauthorised access, and operational disruption mean fencing must deliver measurable intrusion resistance, predictable performance, and long-term durability.

For many UK sites, steel palisade fencing continues to be a proven perimeter security solution. When correctly specified, it provides a strong physical barrier, effective visual deterrence, and clear sightlines for surveillance, all with minimal ongoing maintenance.

At Corden Perimeter Systems, we supply standard and specialist palisade fencing systems for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects across the UK.

Why palisade fencing remains widely specified

Palisade fencing continues to be specified because it deters intrusion, reduces climbing risk through anti-climb pale profiles, maintains clear sightlines for CCTV, withstands impact and vandalism.

What is palisade fencing?

Palisade fencing is a steel security fencing system formed from vertical steel pales fixed to horizontal rails and supported by steel posts. The pales are typically finished with rounded & notched, single-pointed, or triple-pointed tops.

Palisade fencing is manufactured and hot-dip galvanised, providing corrosion resistance and long-term structural integrity. Optional powder-coated finishes may be specified where appearance or planning requirements apply.

Key features

  • Robust steel construction
  • Anti-climb pale design
  • Heights typically from 1.8m to 3.0m+
  • Clear visibility for surveillance
  • Integration with gates and access control

Typical palisade fencing specification

Pale profiles typically include D-section or W-section steel pales, with thickness commonly around 2.0–3.0mm. Pale tops may be rounded & notched, single-pointed, or triple-pointed. Systems generally use two or three horizontal rails with security fixings. Posts are set in concrete at approximately 2.75m centres. Palisade fencing is manufactured and hot-dip galvanised as standard, with optional powder coating.

Heavy-duty palisade fencing providing secure boundary enclosure

Bespoke and enhanced-security palisade

We partner with bespoke UK manufacturers to offer enhanced-security and SR-rated palisade fencing solutions. These can include heavier-duty configurations, tested SR ratings, bespoke heights and layouts, and improved intrusion delay performance.

Durability and maintenace

Because palisade fencing is manufactured and hot-dip galvanised, it offers excellent resistance to corrosion, impact, and weathering, with minimal maintenance requirements.

Why choose Corden Perimeter Systems
